Asatsuyu
Ei, Minamikyushu City, Kagoshima Prefecture
Located at the southern tip of the Satsuma Peninsula, the tea from Ei benefits from a unique climate at an elevation of over 200m. The cool morning and evening fog, coupled with a significant temperature difference between day and night, allows for the cultivation of premium-quality tea with a pronounced fragrance.
Asatsuyu, often referred to as "natural gyokuro," is a rare cultivar with minimal astringency. It offers a remarkable balance of strong umami and sweetness, making it a sought-after variety cultivated in small quantities. The distinct growing conditions and care in cultivation help express the natural terroir of the region, highlighting the unique qualities of this tea.
