90年代 德化 盖碗
1990s Dehua Gaiwan
Produced in the 90s.
The story is that this was found in a warehouse after being overlooked for a long time. Now with the rebirth modern interest in tea, these gaiwans are resold back to the market.
This is not one of cheap mass-produced offerings. Although also mass produced with mold, it’s small batched and beautifully done. Can be seen from the rim. Although the edge is a bit blunt, it’s thin and delicate—hard to do with mold.
This is our choice for standard assessment vessel for gaiwan.
Versatile size, shape, and heft for a wide range of teas.
Volume: 80 ml
To our Jakarta Tea Party members:
I highly recommend getting at least one for your home. It makes discussing tea at our gatherings smoother and serves as a benchmark for how much tea you’ll need for your presentations. These are the reference vessels we use in our space.
At 80 ml, it’s perfect to 品茶 for one or two 人. Great for daily use, easy to clean, good density and weight. Consider getting one—you won’t regret it. Trust me, it’s a solid choice you’ll enjoy using.
